Learning and Development Lead (Retail)

Job description

Seeking a passionate and strategic Learning and Development Lead to design, implement, and drive imperatively L&D initiatives tailored to the dynamic needs of the retail industry. This role is crucial to fostering a high-performance culture across our retail operations, from front-line store associates to corporate leadership. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in adult learning, leadership development, and front line retail training to help us build the capabilities that drive customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and business growth.

Job Description:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive learning strategy aligned with business goals, workforce trends, and retail-specific competencies.

  • Create and deliver learning programs across all retail levels (store operations, sales, customer service, management) through blended learning approaches (classroom, digital, on-the-job).

  • Design structured onboarding for new hires and upskilling pathways for existing employees to improve performance and retention.

  • Lead initiatives to develop store leaders and retail managers, including succession planning, coaching programs, and leadership workshops.

  • Partner with operational leaders to identify capability gaps and implement targeted training solutions.

  • Utilize learning management systems (LMS), e-learning tools, and mobile training platforms to support scalable, trackable learning experiences.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, or related field (Master's degree preferred)

  • 6-10 years of experience in Retail Learning and Development

  • Strong understanding of retail operations, customer experience drivers, and workforce challenges

  • Demonstrated experience in building and executing large-scale learning programs

  • Proficiency with LMS platforms (e.g., Workday Learning, Cornerstone, etc.)

  • Knowledge of instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles

  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to measure and communicate impact
