Business Development Manager - Renewable Energy

About the role
Our client is seeking a driven and strategic Business Development Manager to spearhead growth in the renewable energy sector. This role is ideal for individuals with prior experience in the solar industry or utility-related projects, though candidates from building materials or construction sectors with a strong track record in project-based sales will also be considered. You will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and driving project wins that support the company's long-term growth strategy.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the utilities sector and large-scale solar (LSS) projects.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including utility providers, developers, contractors, consultants, and government agencies.

  • Lead the end-to-end business development cycle from prospecting, tender participation, proposal development, to negotiation and contract closure.

  • Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, project management, and finance) to ensure project feasibility and alignment with client needs.

  • Monitor market trends, policies, and regulatory changes impacting renewable energy and utilities.

  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking platforms to strengthen visibility and partnerships.

  • Achieve business development targets and contribute to the company's long-term growth in the renewable energy and infrastructure sectors.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline.

  • Proven experience in the solar, utilities, energy, or infrastructure sectors, specifically in large-scale or project-based sales.

  • Candidates from the building materials or construction industry with experience in managing project clients are also encouraged to apply.

  • Strong network within utilities, developers, EPCs, or government-linked companies is highly advantageous.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance commercial and technical considerations.

  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving industry.
