About the role
Our client, a leading manufacturer in the cable and building materials industry, is seeking a driven and results-oriented Assistant Sales Manager. This role is ideal for an experienced sales professional with a proven track record in the construction and infrastructure sector. You will be responsible for driving sales growth, managing key accounts, and supporting the company's broader commercial strategy while setting the standard for customer engagement and service excellence.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue and growth targets within the building materials and construction market.

  • Manage and expand relationships with key stakeholders, including contractors, developers, consultants, distributors, and utilities.

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to increase market share and strengthen customer base.

  • Provide technical and commercial guidance to clients, ensuring solutions meet project specifications and requirements.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, logistics, technical support, and marketing) to deliver high-quality service and solutions.

  • Track industry developments, market trends, and competitor activities to support sales planning and business positioning.

  • Deliver accurate forecasts, reports, and updates to management on sales performance and pipeline.

  • Support and guide junior sales team members, contributing to a culture of collaboration and performance.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 5 years' sales experience in the building materials, cables, or construction-related industry.

  • Demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding sales targets.

  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and presentation skills with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Commercially savvy, with the ability to identify opportunities and deliver value-driven solutions.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to work independently and in teams.

  • Based in Petaling Jaya and open to travel as needed.
