Sr Manager - Environmental, Safety & Health (EHS)

Job description

Our client is a market-leading semiconductor MNC. They are seeking a Sr EHS Manager to be based out of their site in Central Malaysia.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance on EHS matters at the site level.
  • Implement and oversee health, safety, environmental, and sustainability initiatives. Lead EHS teams to drive continuous improvement toward EHS goals, collaborating with EHS managers and site leaders to support business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to general safety, fire safety, environmental protection, and industrial hygiene.
  • Prepare and manage the submission of regular site EHS reports and regulatory documentation.
  • Maintain ISO14001 and ISO 45001 certifications.
  • Ensure that all required EHS-related permits are up-to-date and in compliance.
  • Develop and implement effective safety programs aimed at preventing injuries and reducing workers' compensation costs.
  • Monitor EHS performance metrics.
  • Design and deliver training programs to meet regulatory requirements and company objectives.
  • Ensure timely resolution of EHS audit findings and corrective action items.
  • Lead root cause analysis and develop corrective actions.
  • Continuously improve the site's compliance assurance process by providing overall direction to the EHS programs.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through the consistent application of policies and procedures.
  • Interface with local regulatory agencies as needed, managing inspections, inquiries, and related corrective action plans.
  • Perform additional duties and assignments as required.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical or environmental engineering, physical sciences, industrial hygiene, or a related engineering field.
  • An advanced degree in Health, Safety, and Environmental science, along with CIH or Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) training, is a plus.
  • Over 8 - 15 years of experience as an Environmental or Safety engineer/specialist, Facilities Engineer, or Industrial Hygienist.
  • Over 8 - 15 years of experience managing small to moderate-sized teams, including at least 5 years in a regional role.
  • In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations (OSHA, environmental, etc.).
  • Strong ability to collaborate across departments while upholding corporate standards.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to work independently and a strong commitment to achieving results.
  • Proven ability to organize and prioritize complex tasks and projects.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization, including hourly workers, supervisory staff, and senior management, as well as regulatory bodies and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in managing, mentoring, and motivating EHS professionals.
  • Proficiency with web-based and other digital tools and systems.
  • Experience in conducting EHS training and emergency response coordination, including evacuation drills.
  • Familiarity with Responsible Business Alliance audits.
  • Understanding of the requirements of semiconductor customers.
  • Expertise in leading and conducting effective EHS audits.
