Senior Cost Estimator

Our client is a leading engineering firm in the oil and gas industry that is currently seeking for an experienced Senior Cost Estimator to join their team in Malaysia.

The Senior Cost Estimator will be responsible for developing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for process plant projects in the oil and gas sector. This role requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, project management, and cost estimation techniques. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the oil and gas industry and a proven track record of delivering precise cost estimates.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for complex processing unit projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to develop accurate cost estimates.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to gather necessary information for cost estimation.
• Evaluate and compare vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive pricing.
• Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and provide recommendations to project teams.
• Develop and maintain cost databases and estimation tools.

Prepare and present cost estimate reports to management and clients.

Monitor and update cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle to reflect changes in scope, design, and market conditions.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in cost estimation within the oil and gas industry.
• Strong knowledge of cost estimation principles, methodologies, and software.
• Proficiency in using cost estimation tools and software (e.g., Aspen Capital Cost Estimator, Cleopatra Enterprise).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective communication and presentation skills.
• Must have familiarity with Estimation Classes.
• Professional certification (e.g., AACE Certified Estimating Professional) is a plus.
