Safety Officer / Manager

My client is a renowned oil and gas equipment and service provider, based in Selangor. They provide equipment and services to petrol stations all around Malaysia. They are looking for a Safety Engineer/ Manager to lead safety operations in Malaysia.

Position Overview: We are seeking a diligent and experienced Safety Engineer/ Manager to join their team. The Safety Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and implementing best practices to mitigate risks associated their operations in the oil and gas industry. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the safety culture of their organization and make a meaningful impact on the well-being of their employees and clients.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and procedures tailored to the unique needs of their oil and gas equipment and services operations.

2. Conduct Safety Inspections: Perform regular safety inspections of equipment, facilities, and work sites to identify hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.

3. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety issues and develop strategies to mitigate risks effectively.

4. Training and Education: Provide safety training and educational programs to employees and contractors to promote awareness and ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations.

5. Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and accidents, analyzing root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

6. Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards in the oil and gas industry, ensuring compliance and advocating for continuous improvement in safety practices.

7. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures, including evacuation protocols, to effectively respond to emergencies and minimize potential harm to personnel and the environment.

8. Safety Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities, and prepare comprehensive reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.

9. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and management, to promote a culture of safety and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

• 4-8 years of experience in HSE within the oil and gas/ manufacturing/ construction industry.
• Greenbook certified.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety training.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Proven track record of implementing safety programs and initiatives to enhance organizational safety performance.
