Regional Legal Counsel

About Our Client

Our client is a regional leader within medical devices manufacturing and is seeking for a Regional Legal Counsel. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing and mitigating legal risks, reviewing legal documentation, and serving as a legal advisor to the business leadership.


Key Responsibilities

    • Provide strategic legal advice aligned with business objectives; identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks, including medical device and FDA‑related compliance
    • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements (clients, distributors, service providers) to protect company interests and minimise risk
    • Oversee corporate governance matters, including board support, regulatory compliance, corporate records, and director/shareholder agreements
    • Support operations, finance, and HR with legal guidance on imports, international transactions, employment law, and operational risk management
    • Develop and implement legal policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks; deliver training on risk, ethics, and contract management
    • Act as a trusted advisor to senior management and key stakeholders; liaise with regulators, external counsel, and manage complex legal matters

Requirements

  • Holds a Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Comes with at least 6 years of experience in a similar role, with a focus on commercial law.
  • Experienced in contract negotiation and management, compliance, and governance.
  • Has a strong understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape within the SEA/APAC or similar regions.
  • Strong communication and senior stakeholder management skills. Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is a must-have. Understanding of spoken and written Mandarin is advantageous.
