Regional Legal Counsel

About Our Client

Our client is a multinational industrial automation solutions provider seeking for a Regional Legal Counsel to join their growing team. This role will be responsible for managing the company's compliance, governance, and risk while serving as a legal advisor to senior stakeholders across the regions.

Key Responsibilities

• Legal & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure operations comply with local, regional, and international laws; maintain legal entity administration and stay updated on regulatory changes.
• Corporate Governance & Policy Development: Implement governance best practices, support board meetings, and develop internal policies to align with legal standards.
• Risk & Contract Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks; draft, review, and negotiate contracts to protect company interests.
• Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, liaise with regulatory bodies, and communicate legal matters across departments.
• Data Privacy & Intellectual Property: Oversee compliance with data protection laws (e.g., GDPR) and support global trademark and IP management.

Requirements

• Holds a Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent legal qualification.
• Comes with at least 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a focus on commercial law.
• Experienced in contract negotiation and management, compliance, and general commercial law.
• Has a strong understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape within the SEA/APAC or similar regions.
• Strong communication and senior stakeholder management skills. Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is a must-have. Understanding of spoken and written Mandarin is advantageous.
