About the role
Our client is seeking a highly capable Product Manager to lead the development, localization, commercialization, and lifecycle management of new metering and water-related technologies. This role begins with a focus on water meters and smart metering solutions, with potential to expand into adjacent technologies as the business evolves. The successful candidate will ensure that new products meet global standards, align with customer needs in international markets, and support the company's overall strategic direction.
Responsibilities
- Define the product vision, roadmap, and lifecycle strategy for new metering and water-related solutions.
- Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and customer demands such as automation and smart systems.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to develop new technologies and improve existing products.
- Lead initiatives related to new product development, enhancements, cost optimization, and portfolio expansion.
- Conduct in-depth market and customer needs analysis across various sectors and regions.
- Benchmark competitor offerings to position products effectively in target markets.
- Track regulatory changes and relevant industry standards impacting the product line.
- Support the strategy team in evaluating partnership or acquisition opportunities to strengthen the portfolio.
- Work with Marketing on pricing, positioning, and launch strategies for new products.
- Serve as the technical advisor to senior management, providing insights on product feasibility and market readiness.
- Manage product certifications, compliance processes, and product variants for international markets.
- Troubleshoot technical issues, perform root cause analyses, and drive product improvements.
- Develop training materials and deliver product training to sales teams, distributors, and customers.
- Execute product launches and ensure commercial success post-launch.
- Coordinate with R&D and engineering teams to prioritize features based on customer feedback and market needs.
- Partner with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure cost-effective and scalable production.
- Engage with market stakeholders-industry bodies, distributors, clients, and government sectors-to support adoption and market penetration.
- Monitor key product KPIs including revenue performance, market share, customer satisfaction, and ROI.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on progress, risks, and strategic recommendations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; an MBA or Master's in Engineering is an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in product management within industrial, engineered, or technical products.
- Experience launching new products or leading New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives.
- Knowledge of metering technologies is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with international certification processes and regulatory compliance standards (ISO, sustainability requirements, etc.).
- Able to balance technical understanding with strong commercial decision-making.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
