NPI Soldering Engineer

Our client is a global technology manufacturer based in Malaysia, seeking an experienced and hands-on NPI Engineer / Senior Engineer (Soldering Process) to support new product introductions. This position plays a key role in developing and optimizing soldering processes to meet high performance and reliability standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead process development and qualification for NPI soldering activities

• Optimize process parameters using DOE, FMEA, and SPC

• Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Production teams on manufacturability

• Conduct DFM reviews and support thermal profile optimization

• Execute thermal profiling and process capability validation

• Evaluate and qualify materials, tools, and fixtures

• Support pilot builds and track yield performance

• Integrate AOI, X-ray, and SPI into production lines

• Troubleshoot soldering issues and implement corrective actions

• Liaise with suppliers for materials qualification

• Ensure compliance with IPC and customer standards

• Maintain documentation and control plans

Skills & Experience Required:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Materials, Mechanical, or Electronics)

• Minimum 3 years' experience in NPI or process engineering

• Strong knowledge of soldering, SMT, and reflow processes

• Hands-on with AOI, X-ray, SPI, and reflow equipment

• Proficient in DOE, SPC, and FMEA tools

• Bonus: Exposure to large-area soldering or package/module soldering

• Bonus: Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or Green Belt certification
