HT Substation Design Manager/ Senior Manager

My client is a leading data center solutions provider in the Asia pacific region. They are hiring for a HT Substation Design Manager/ Senior Manager, based in Selangor due to rapid expansion.

Role of Substation Design Engineer

• Experience in developing 275kV, 132kV, 33kV, and 11kV substation electrical design.
• Interconnection with power grid, primary and secondary equipment selection.
• Knowledge of SCADA, testing, and commissioning standards.
• Adherence to reliability, availability requirements, international best practices, regulatory requirements, safety in design, cost targets, and speed to market.

Responsibilities

• Practical experience with Grid Code, Bulk Supply Interconnection Standards, and Metering standards.
• Familiarity with Substation Design Standards in Malaysia.
• Design experience with HT & MV substation layout planning and interconnection with Overhead Transmission Pylon.
• HT cable path planning and Power Transformer design (multiple windings, OLTC steps, vector group, winding impedance).
• Knowledge of Earthing Transformer, AIS and GIS HT switchgears, Double busbar design, Busbar Differential Protection, Distance Protection, Transformer Biased Differential Protection, Fault analysis calculation.
• Experience with Underground cable temperature rise simulation (using CYME or equivalent).
• Use of international design standards such as IEC 61850, IEC 60076, IEC 62271, IEC 61439.
• Ensure designs are concurrently maintainable, achieve five nines availability, meet fault grading and arc flash protection requirements, and are sized for worst-case power demand without exceeding electrical and thermal capacity.
• Familiarity with Renewable Energy Policy and regulatory framework in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
• Incorporate Demand Side Management, Interruptible Load Programmes, Energy Storage Systems, Micro-Grid, Combined Cycle Power Plant, and Cogeneration into designs.

Qualifications

• Proven design experience in the APAC region.
• Electrical Professional Engineer with a practicing certificate.
• 10+ years in design consultancy.
• Experience in electrical studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, Neher McGrath, load calculation, lightning protection, earthing, electrical system protection, electrical power monitoring system, building management system).
• Preferred experience in hyper scale datacenters, micro-electronics, or other critical infrastructure.
• Proficient in English and Mandarin.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Etap, SKM, and CYME tools for design and drafting.
• Willing to travel to oversee substation construction.
• Willing to relocate based on project requirements.
