Head of Logistics Operations

A leading multinational logistics service provider is looking for a Head of Logistics Operations to lead and manage all day-to-day operations, including transportation and warehousing activities, freight management, and field service monitoring. This position directly reports to the Managing Director.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring optimal occupancy and adherence to cold chain requirements
• Assess and enhance operations using Six Sigma and Kaizen methodologies
• Analyse financial performance to ensure expenses remain within budget
• Address and resolve issues such as cost escalation, employee conflicts, and loss of business to competitors
• Establish policies and procedures for operations in compliance with the required standards
• Oversee daily management of the Distribution Centres and transportation operations
• Manage freight arrangements for export markets, ensuring growth in revenue and cost containment
• Support field service operations, including setting up new restaurants and reassessing storage capacity
• Prepare annual budgets and manage country P&L performance
• Engage in key customer activities and provide solutions to customer issues
• Contribute to the development of the organization's long-term strategy and establish growth objectives

Key Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management or related field of study
• Minimum fifteen years of logistics operations management experience, preferably involving fresh food products
• Extensive experience with logistics, transport, warehousing, inventory, third party freight and field service management
• Prior experience in managing the storage and transportation of goods across various temperature settings is highly desirable
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, management and collaborative skills
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
• A strong team player with excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to operate in a matrix environment
• Knowledge of different business functions and experience managing an evolving environment
• Ability to look at situations from several points of view and create tools that help simplify job tasks
