Assembly Operations Manager

Job description

Our client is a rapidly expanding semiconductor company in Perak. They are currently seeking an Assembly Operations Manager.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Provide strong leadership and guidance to the assembly operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day assembly operations, including production scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow optimization to meet production targets and customer requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain rigorous quality control processes to ensure that all assembled products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains, and lead initiatives to implement best practices and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods to minimize stockouts while optimizing working capital and inventory turns.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and guidelines, promoting a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Supplier Management: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and components, negotiate favourable terms, and develop strategic partnerships to support assembly operations.
  • Cost Management: Monitor and control operational expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement measures to improve cost efficiency without compromising quality or safety.
  • Performance Monitoring: Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and evaluate operational performance, providing regular reports and analysis to senior management.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other departments, such as engineering, quality assurance, procurement, and logistics, to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of goals and objectives.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in semiconductor assembly operations, with at least 6-8 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Proven track record of success in managing assembly operations, optimizing processes, and driving operational excellence.
  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor assembly technologies, equipment, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve exceptional results.
  • Analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001 / IATF 16949) and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage competing priorities.
