SAP - Master Data Governance (Manufacturing Industry)

About our client:
Our client is a German manufacturing firm with presence across EU and North America. Currently expanding their market in Asia, they are setting up a Hub in Malaysia to handle the APAC region. This role will be responsible to work closely with the global team and set up the Master Data Governance here.

Key Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain the global master data governance framework, including policies, standards, and data ownership models.
• Define and enforce global rules for SAP master data domains (Material Master, BP, BOMs, Routings, Work Centers, etc.).
• Build and manage global data governance processes, approval workflows, and data quality controls within SAP (MDG or equivalent).
• Lead global harmonization of master data structures across SAP systems (ECC/S4HANA, PLM, MES).
• Develop guidelines, SOPs, and documentation for master data creation, maintenance, and change management.
• Monitor data quality KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives across regions.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, procurement, finance, and IT teams to ensure alignment and standardization.
• Support data cleansing, standardization, and migration activities during transformation or SAP rollout programs.
• Train and guide business users, data stewards, and regional teams on master data governance best practices.

Skills and Attribute:

• 5+ years of experience in Master Data Governance or SAP MDM roles.
• Strong end‑to‑end experience building data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
• Deep knowledge of SAP master data (MM, BP, PP, BOM, Routing, Classification).
• Hands‑on experience with SAP MDG or similar governance platforms.
• Understanding of data quality, metadata, and data lifecycle management.
• Background in manufacturing, with exposure to product, engineering, or supply chain data is an additional benefit.
• Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive global alignment.
• Detail-oriented, structured, and strong in documentation and process creation.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Comfortable building governance foundations from scratch and navigating ambiguity.
