R&D Manager (Flavouring)

Job description

This F&B company in Selangor is seeking an innovative R&D Manager to lead their Research and Development team at their flavoring company. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in developing new and exciting flavors, enhancing existing formulations, and driving the innovation agenda within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management:
    • Lead and manage the R&D team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, encouraging professional growth.
  • Product Development:
    • Oversee the development of new flavors and enhancements to existing products.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing and Production, to bring new products to market.
  • Research and Analysis:
    • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, customer preferences, and competitive products.
    • Stay abreast of industry advancements and technological innovations in flavor science.
  • Formulation and Testing:
    • Formulate and optimize flavor profiles, ensuring consistency, quality, and adherence to regulatory standards.
    • Coordinate sensory evaluations and consumer testing to gather feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to establish and maintain quality control measures.
    • Ensure products meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Project Management:
    • Develop and manage project timelines, ensuring timely delivery of R&D initiatives.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to align R&D efforts with overall business objectives.
  • Budget Management:
    • Manage the R&D budget, allocating resources efficiently to achieve project goals.
    • Identify cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of formulations, processes, and project outcomes.
    • Prepare regular reports for senior management, summarizing R&D activities, achievements, and future.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in flavour development, preferably within the food and beverage industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of food chemistry, sensory science, and flavour creation.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for the food industry.
  • Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
