Quality Manufacturing Manager

Job description

Our client is a rapidly expanding semiconductor company in Penang. Due to rapid expansion, they are seeking a Quality Manufacturing Manager.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with production control plans and maintain documentation.
  • Properly use and calibrate test/measurement equipment, conduct MSA studies, and maintain Poka Yoke verification.
  • Collect, review, and respond to manufacturing data; update capability studies and support continuous improvement.
  • Approve and maintain quality documentation (control plans, work instructions, inspection instructions).
  • Ensure compliance with containment, rework, and inspection processes for non-conforming products; ensure timely disposition.
  • Lead problem-solving using 8D methodology, meeting response time requirements.
  • Facilitate problem-solving for non-conforming products with relevant teams.
  • Coordinate internal sorting activities and resolve quality issues related to capability, tolerancing, and materials.
  • Conduct process capability studies, recommend and verify process changes.
  • Participate in modifying Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Train and qualify Manufacturing Quality Engineers; oversee inspection/audit processes.
  • Authority to stop any process or product delivery not meeting customer expectations, safety, or environmental standards.
  • Ensure compliance with quality management, health and safety, legal requirements, environmental policies, 5S policies, and general duty of care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Bachelors in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience; MBA desired.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings for quality parameters and product requirements.
  • Experience in relevant manufacturing processes and technologies with minimum of 10 years in Semiconductor Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of practical problem-solving tools (8D methodology: Is-Is Not, Fishbone diagram, Brainstorming, Affinity Diagrams, 3x 5 Why).
  • Experience in assembly processes.
  • Proficiency in quality tools and process/production control methods (FMEA, Control plans, MSA, Capability study Cpk, SPC).
  • Experience in fast-paced, high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in manufacturing quality or product quality management.
  • Knowledge of SPC, Variation Control, MSA, or GR&R techniques.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred.
