Manager, Group Health Underwriting

Job Scope

* Lead the Group Health team in achieving that targeted TAT and accuracy level.
* Guide the Group Health team in ensuring the daily operations are within service standards.
* Lead the Group Health team in supporting business units to achieve target GWP.
* Operate within target loss ratio set by the company.
* Review and approve the pricing done by the underwriters for new business, renewals and Maxis GBN business.
* Provide sales support to the Business Units through managing product launches, marketing activities and marketing materials.
* Manage and implement new projects for Group Health.

Reports to VP, Group Health UW

Main Responsibilities

1. Perform business underwriting for new and existing(renewal) business.
2. Assist in product/Policy training to corporate clients, agents and brokers in HQ and branches nationwide when required.
3. Manage portfolio risk to ensure profitable portfolio growth.
4. Visitations to corporate clients, brokers and agencies when required.
5. Ensure policies/endorsements are delivered within stipulated time.
6. Close monitoring and management of Claim Recovery for GHS accounts.
7. Assist in managing resources to achieve optimum level of customer service through efficient team management by ensuring the team is meeting underwriting TAT and accuracy target.
8. Product and system development/enhancement- work closely with all parties concerned.
9. Assist in process improvements with relevant parties i.e. Claims, TPA, Actuarial and Business Units.
10. Liaise with Third-Party Administrator (TPA) on underwriting matters or admission to hospitals.
11. Assist the Group Health team in implementing and monitoring of sales campaigns.
12. Any other special projects or assignments, e.g. BCP exercise, organizing company events, etc.

Qualification and Experience Requirement

Education:
* University/College graduate plus 4 years related working experience in the insurance industry.
* Actuarial or Statistical background or Group Business Underwriting experience preferred

Experience:
* Minimum of 4 years' experience in and/or similar role/capacity. Group Business Underwriting experience preferred.
* Have experience in managing a team.

Skills:
* Strong analytical skills.
* Possess a sense of urgency and commitment to meet performance targets.
* Customer-oriented and good communication skills. Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is a must.
* Detailed and meticulous with good problem solving and decision-making skills.
* IT literate - Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint is a must.
