Database Administrator (Oracle / Postgress / MSSQL / Cassandra)

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform database maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance tuning, including SQL/PLSQL optimization and indexing improvements.
  • Manage incident, problem, and change processes while providing operational support through capacity planning, performance monitoring, and resource analysis.
  • Handle installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle migrations to ensure high availability and stable database operations.
  • Support backup and recovery, and implement/maintain PostgreSQL high‑availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Automate administrative tasks using Unix, shell scripting, Python, or PHP, and participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation for critical incidents.
  • Maintain compliance with data protection requirements and ensure proper documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

Requirement:

  • 10+ years of expert-level PostgreSQL administration, including HA/DR design, performance tuning, lifecycle management, and deep experience operating PostgreSQL on Google Cloud or Azure, with strong capability in supporting Cloud PaaS database services.
  • Advanced technical proficiency in SQL programming, Unix shell/Python scripting, security hardening, encryption, key rotation, backup/recovery architecture, migrations, data movement, and space/object management.
  • Strong leadership in complex problem resolution, including root‑cause analysis, vendor escalation, performance diagnostics, and delivering stable, secure, enterprise‑grade database environments.
  • Broad architectural awareness, with additional exposure to technologies such as Cassandra or Redis, IT security practices, modern software methodologies, and a proactive drive to learn and adopt emerging technologies.
