Business Development Manager

Job description

Our client is a global logistics and supply chain solutions provider with a worldwide presence of over 100 countries. Specialising in sea freight, air freight and contract logistics, they support a wide range of verticals ranging from food and beverage, chemicals, electronics, automotive and more.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, pursue, and secure new sea‑freight business opportunities across import, export, and cross‑trade.
  • Develop a robust sales pipeline through prospecting, industry networking, customer visits, and targeted outreach.
  • Manage end‑to‑end sales cycles including RFI/RFQ responses, solution design, and contract negotiation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with shippers, consignees, NVOCC partners, and freight decision‑makers.
  • Understand customer supply chain needs and propose tailored sea‑freight solutions (FCL, LCL, consolidation, reefer, project cargo).
  • Conduct regular business reviews with key accounts to ensure service satisfaction and identify growth opportunities.
  • Work closely with pricing teams and overseas offices to obtain competitive rates and design commercially viable solutions.
  • Monitor industry trends, trade‑lane developments, carrier capacity, and competitor activities.



Skills & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 3-7 years of sales or business development experience in freight forwarding (sea freight focus required).
  • Strong understanding of ocean freight products, international shipping, incoterms, and trade‑lane dynamics.
  • Proven track record in customer acquisition and revenue growth.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and travel as needed.
