Assistant Supply Chain Manager
Job description
A leading retail organisation is looking for an Assistant Supply Chain Manager to lead and manage the entire supply chain process, including planning, inventory management, logistics operations and customer service to enhance business development, ensure sustainability, and achieve customer satisfaction. This position directly reports to the Regional Head of Supply Chain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee the company's comprehensive Supply Chain strategy to enhance process efficiency and reduce costs
- Manage the import/export processes and traffic flow to and from international destinations, including customs liaison, declarations, and documentation
- Ensure shipping processes comply with all relevant local customs laws and regulations
- Build and maintain relationships with third-party logistics providers and freight forwarders to align with company objectives and standards
- Negotiate contracts, service level agreements (SLAs), and pricing to optimize cost efficiency and service quality
- Continuously identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements with vendors, third-party logistics providers, and freight forwarders
- Lead cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and ensure seamless integration with 3PL operations
- Develop and manage the supply chain budget and costs, encompassing procurement, shipping, warehousing, and distribution expenses
- Monitor expenses and costs to optimize spending and maximize cost-efficiency
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, including to align supply chain activities with business needs
Key Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management or related field of study
- Minimum 6 years' supply chain management experience in the retail industry
- Prior experience in international shipments, inventory management, warehousing, customs clearance, distribution and e-commerce
- A strong grasp of operational processes, business process standardization, and enabling technologies
- Prior experience working with colleagues from various functions across different regions
- Proficient in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Microsoft Office tools
- Global awareness, good business ethics, and an understanding of legal contracts
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, management and collaborative skills
- Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
- Ability to look at situations from several points of view
