Key Responsibilities
- Delivering core actuarial outputs, including actuarial valuations, financial condition assessments, stress testing and other regulatory or group reporting requirements.
- Independently identify material risks, trends and issues arising from actuarial analysis, and perform deeper investigation where required.
- Translate complex technical results into clear, practical insights for non‑technical stakeholders, including senior management and internal business partners.
- Lead larger actuarial initiatives or projects with minimal supervision, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
- Act as a technical resource to the wider actuarial team and provide guidance and coaching to junior team members.
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams to understand broader business requirements and ensure actuarial deliverables address underlying needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Good progress towards actuarial qualification, or recently qualified, with a recognized actuarial body.
- Approximately 8-10 years of relevant experience within the general insurance industry.
- Strong understanding of actuarial valuation, capital, financial condition and regulatory reporting frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to work with context, exercise sound judgement, and solve problems proactively.
- Proficiency in Excel and actuarial / analytical tools such as VBA, SAS, R, Python, SQL or similar technologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to manage multiple workstreams effectively.
- Proven capability to mentor and develop junior actuarial professionals.
